Product video ideas for food and drink brands.
A drink brand has no rooms to tour. The product is the whole story, so the filming day is built around what the product does. Here are the formats we plan, and how they fill a month.
A venue can film its rooms. A trucking company can film its fleet. A food or drink brand has one thing to show, and it fits in a hand. That sounds limiting. It isn't, as long as the product is doing something in every shot.
Our work for food, drink and CBD brands runs on one filming day a month, at your office, your kitchen or your warehouse. We film product shots, interviews and B-roll in one session and cut them into 30 edited clips. This is how we decide what to film, the formats we plan, and where each clip goes.
Find the moment the product sells itself.
Every product has a moment. A can cracking open. The first pour and the fizz that follows. A lid twisting off a jar. Steam coming off a plate. Before the filming day we find that moment with you, because it is the shot the month is built around, and we film it several ways so it never looks the same twice.
The video at the top of this page is one of ours, built that way: one drink, made into a float step by step, with the pour at the center of it. There is no shot of a can standing still on a table. The product is always in use.
- The open The can, the bottle, the jar or the wrapper, filmed close enough to hear.
- The pour Into a glass, over ice, into a bowl: the motion that makes someone thirsty or hungry.
- The serve A recipe, a pairing or a drink made with it, from the first step to the last.
- The hold The product in a hand, turning, the label readable, close to the lens.
Packaging is part of the moment too. A case being opened, a row of cans on a counter, the label turned toward the lens: shots like these tell a viewer what to look for on a shelf.
The formats that fill a month.
Product shots are the backbone, but a month of nothing else starts to blur. So we plan the day around a handful of formats, each one filmed on purpose:
- Product B-roll The open, the pour, the serve and the hold, cut short for the feed.
- ASMR Close picture and close sound, made for people who watch with the volume up.
- Talking-head ads A person with the product, talking to the camera, cut vertical.
- Where it's made The kitchen, the line, the warehouse and the people packing orders.
- Recipes and pairings What to make with it, and what to have it with.
ASMR asks the most of the filming day. The room has to be quiet, the sound is recorded as carefully as the picture, and every lid and every pour is slowed down. It is worth the time: the same footage also gives the edit its closest, cleanest product shots.
The talking-head ad is the one format that needs a person. It can be the founder or someone from the team, talking about the product the way they would to a friend. Cut vertical, it works on the feed, and with the Meta ads add-on it can run as a paid ad from the same footage.
Recipes stretch a single product furthest. A drink becomes a float, a mocktail and a pairing with dinner. A sauce goes on three different plates. Each recipe is its own clip, and each one shows the product doing something new.
Where it's made is the format people forget. A kitchen at work, jars being filled, a pallet leaving the warehouse: it shows the team behind the product, and it gives the talking-head ads a place to stand.
Animated product loops are the one format a filming day does not make. Tess designs them in house, as an add-on of their own.
Where each clip goes.
One raw video becomes 30 edited clips, with subtitles and motion graphics, each sized for the platform it goes to. We spread the formats across the month so no two days in a row look alike: a pour one day, a recipe the next, a person talking about the product after that. The product's moment comes back through the month, filmed a different way each time.
Seasons help too. A summer drink, a holiday flavor, a limited run: if it is on your calendar, it belongs on the roadmap, and the filming day can be planned so it lands in time.
We post every day on every platform and write the captions. Comments get replies and DMs get handled. When a message is a lead, a store asking about stocking the product or a customer asking where to buy it, it goes to your team.
Stills are a separate job. Our photo studio in Oakland Park shoots product photography too, and nobody from your team needs to come in for it: the product can be shipped in or dropped off.
A product that is opened, poured, served and talked about gives a feed something new every day. One day of filming, planned around its moment, covers the month. See how it works for food and beverage brands.
